ABOUT US

Project Touch Inc. is a nonprofit organization that was established in 2001 by Dr. Sherron Parrish, geared towards strengthening families and reducing at-risk behaviors and human trafficking among youth in South Florida.  The program is set out to provide much-needed human and social support to youth that will enhance self-esteem and reduce recidivism by reducing antisocial propensities. The organization opened its first group home in Fort Lauderdale, with the capacity to serve six (6) teenage girls ages 13 to 17 in August 2006.  Since its conception, the organization has seen success in the lives of many of the youth served and has maintained a stabilized program that delivers quality service to youth in care. In December 2022 the organization expanded its services and became licensed as a Child Placing Agency.  Its first Professional Family Foster Home was established in January 2023, to serve a capacity of 4 teenage girls ages 13 to 17.  By recruiting and training foster parents and offering a range of supportive services, our organization helps youth and families. We understand that our direct care staff and foster parents can help our children grow up to be successful individuals. Hundreds of youths who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment need a secure, nurturing household where they may grow. To help at-risk youth overcome their obstacles and look forward to a brighter future, Project Touch has stepped in to provide stable and encouraging family homes.

Mission Statement

To provide a safe haven for at risk children and youth of the community who have been separated from their families for various reasons.

Vision

Our vision is to fulfill the promise to provide complete support in confidence, reliability, and with trustworthy expertise and information.  To collaborate with other entities to make services available to a wider audience.  To network and partner with a pool of professional consultants for specific services, back-up in report development, presentation and other areas that we can afford to contract without risking the core values provided to the children.

Statement of Need

From infancy to age 18, foster children span all racial and cultural backgrounds. They frequently experience family stress, family violence, and lifelong poverty. These children could need counseling, special education, and medical attention. While the vast majority of biological parents really love and adore their children, stress, a lack of parental education, severe financial hardship, drug usage, and unprepared teen parenthood place severe demands on their parenting abilities. Because of this, the natural parents haven't been able to give their kids a secure and loving atmosphere. Children who lack foster care have suffered negative effects on their emotional, physical, intellectual, and developmental well-being. The separation from their parents and siblings could traumatize them.  Foster parents become aware of each child's unique needs and play a pivotal role in molding the child's future.
